Japan Re-entry Permit
Before leaving Japan temporarily after entering on a working visa / with a proper status of residence, a foreigner should apply for a Re-entry Permit at the Immigration Bureau. With a Re-entry Permit, he/she will not need to obtain a new visa at a Japanese embassy or consulate overseas to return to Japan, as long as it is within the authorized period of stay in Japan. Failing to obtain a Re-entry Permit and or having a multiple entry valid visa will require applying again for a visa. A Re-entry Permit is valid for a maximum of three years & it comes in single and multiple re-entry versions.
